Our Story

The Standard was born to fight racism and discrimination in the workplace with an intersectional approach. During a pivotal time for the Black community, thirteen Black Women found similarities in the professional barriers they faced in the marketing sector. The Founders set out to elevate the standard through strategic corporate partnerships, educate the community through expert advice and accelerate the industry through member experiences and programming.

Join The Standard!

The Standard is a community that provides Black women with a successful network to help them cultivate their career path in an accountable industry committed to intentional action. Our goal is to establish a sustainable model and pipeline of support that bridges the gap and leads to increased pathways of success for Black women at various levels of their professional career. We connected through our lived experience of balancing the barriers of gender and race in our professional lives. While the world reckons with facing racial inequality, we see the need to take an intersectional approach and set a new Standard to center and support Black Canadian women.

Together, with our membership and partners, we are uniquely suited to lead the charge and direct change.

Thank you to our Founding Partners for supporting us in making impactful, inclusive and equitable change in Canada for Black Women.”
