Help us raise The Standard 💯: We’re hiring a Social Media Coordinator!

Are you passionate about social media, content creation and supporting a growing community? We’re hiring a Social Media coordinator to manage our social and digital presence and raise the Standard.

Reporting to the MarComms Committee Chairs, the Social Media Coordinator is accountable for the management of The Canadian Black Standard’s social and digital media accounts. This is a mission-critical role that will support the growth of The Standard, and engagement of our existing members across our digital channels.  

JOB SUMMARY: 

  • The Coordinator is primarily responsible for producing social media content across platforms including, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook and TikTok; as well as the newsletter and website updates.

  • The Coordinator is accountable to the MarComms Committee for ensuring the production of regular content across channels, and that events and partnerships are effectively communicated to our membership on our digital channels in accordance with organizational and brand standards. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITY: 

  • Design and develop social assets and copy, and maintain a monthly content to support social media growth and engagement with The Standard members. 

  • Design communications for campaigns and promotions on social media and other digital communication platforms; including but not limited to newsletter and website.

  • Craft messaging for different social and digital channels according to audience 

  • Work with the graphic designer to create campaigns that support The Standard’s mission and promote partners and member experiences.

  • Attend MarComms committee meetings as required and provide support for communications.

  • Exemplary attention to detail with excellent project management, organizational and budgeting skills. 

  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work both independently and as part of a team. 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 

  • Ability to support the big picture goals while contributing to day-to-day tasks. 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality. 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: 

  • Solid understanding of social media trends, analytics and content that engages audiences.

  • Comfortable with digital software including Teams, Zoom, Eventbrite, MailChimp, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Asana etc. 

  • Proficient in creative platforms (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Later, CapCut). 

  • Some experience creating and editing video for TikTok, Reels and YouTube.

  • Experience managing brand or organizational social media accounts

EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION: 

  • Post-secondary diploma or undergraduate degree in any of the following areas: communications, marketing, graphic design or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE: At least 1-2 years’ experience in social media management, graphic design, video production or content creation.

LANGUAGES: Fluency in oral and written English

CONTRACT DURATION: 6 months, with the opportunity to extend; approx. 20 hours per week

COMPENSATION: $25 per hour
