Wildseed Centre for Art and Activism is launching the second Black Arts Fellowship, an expansive interdisciplinary program for eight emerging and mid-career Black artists. The BIPOC TV & Film Finishing Fund supports the post-production, marketing, promotion and distribution activities of BIPOC-led films. The fund is open to shorts and feature films directed and produced by Black, Indigenous (First Nations, Metis, Inuit), and racialized People of Colour.

We’re thrilled to announce the addition of Dionne and Beth to The Standard.

We’re honoured to highlight another brilliant Black woman, Gabrielle Wright. An Associate with Blakes, Gabrielle had an unusual path to becoming a lawyer. She didn’t grow up dreaming of law. Instead, Gabrielle chose to become a registered nurse. As a first-generation post-secondary student, Gabrielle’s Jamaican roots inclined her towards a practical career, but after a few years, she wanted a new challenge.

Blakes official pro-bono counsel for the new non-profit focused on supporting Black women in marketing.

As we continue to forge a path for Black women, we are beyond excited to meet another rockstar in the making. Robin Esale joins The Standard as our new Treasurer and BOD member.
